[Small Modular Squares]

Most of the boxes shown here were made from 8 sheets of origami paper: 4 sheets for the lid and 4 for the base. Some boxes required additional sheets for decorative inserts, liners, or dividers. The sheets used were mostly 15 cm (5 7/8 inch) square -- a standard size in which origami paper is often sold.

Many types of paper are represented here, ranging from low-priced chiyogami, sold in big economy packs, to very expensive handmade washi, sold by the sheet. Paper featuring traditional Japanese motifs has been combined with a rainbow of solid colors. Papers with unusual textures, inclusions, embossing, metallic highlights, or other special features can be found here.
