[Modular Hexagonal Prisms]

These boxes, all designed by Tomoko Fuse. are irregular hexagons. Each box requires 8 sheets of square paper -- 4 for the lid and 4 for the base. In some cases, additional sheets have been used to create inner liners for the lid and/or base.
 
Unlike a regular hexagon, which has six sides of equal length, an irregular hexagon can have four longer sides of equal length with two shorter sides of equal length (as shown at left), or it can have four shorter sides of equal length with two longer sides of equal length (as shown at right). These shapes are often called prisms.
