| Comments: | The boxes in this set are irregular hexagons: they have six sides, but the sides are not all equal, as in a regular hexagon.
Here the boxes have two longer sides of equal length and four shorter sides of equal length -- a shape often called a prism.
Unlike the regular hexagon lid, which is assembled from six identical units, a prism-shaped lid is assembled from two Module A units and two Module B units. The same is true of the prism base.
Using one type of paper for Module A, and a different type for Module B, creates an attractive contrast, as shown here. Double-sided paper works best, as the reverse sides of the sheets are revealed in the interior of the box.
Some of these prisms have an inner liner added to the base, the lid, or both. This liner helps to strengthen the box and also makes the inside look nicer. |
