[Self-Closing Non-Modular Squares]

The self-closing boxes and tatos shown on this page do not have a separate lid and base. The whole structure of each model is formed from a single sheet of paper.

These boxes and tatos are opened or closed by manipulating four flaps which overlap in various ways. In some cases, a decorative rosette has been added as a lid stopper to make the closure more secure.

Double-sided paper usually works best for the types of boxes and tatos shown here.

Designers include Ancella Simoes, Mari Ono, Tomoko Fuse, David Mitchell, Marc Vigo Anglada, and Robin Glynn.
