[Small Modular Squares]

The boxes shown on this page were made from scrapbook paper, either purchased as 12 in square sheets from open stock, or as 12 in square pads, or as 8 1/2 in by 11 in pads. This paper was then cut down into 6 in (about 15 cm) sheets.

Each box required 8 of these 6 inch sheets. Each lid was assembled from 4 units and each base from 4 units, with each unit folded from one sheet.

It is harder to make small boxes from scrapbook paper than from origami paper because scrapbook paper is usually thicker and stiffer, but this results in sturdy boxes. Most scrapbook paper is one-sided, while many boxes look better with double-sided paper. Nonetheless, working with scrapbook paper can be a lot of fun!
