Comments: | These boxes are "hybrids" -- the lids are modular but the bases are non-modular. I don't yet have a separate category for hybrids on this site, so I have assigned this set of boxes to the modular category for now. These hybrid boxes evolved from my desire to combine Fancy Pinwheel lids in holiday colors with some of my wonderful Christmas-themed letterpress paper from Rossi 1931. I quickly found that the letterpress paper was too heavy for making a modular square base, so I experimented with making non-modular masu-style bases instead. I discovered that I could get a base which would fit my Pinwheel tops exactly by folding a masu box from an 8 1/2 inch (21.6 cm) square sheet of the Rossi paper. |
