Comments: | All of the square boxes shown here have lids which start with the basic steps in Tomoko Fuse's Plain Square Box design. Many different types of lids can be created from this starting point. As you can see, the variations are far from plain! Each lid requires 4 sheets of paper. Some of these lids have tabs which can be used like a handle to open the box more easily. Some lids have beautiful cranes, and some have both tabs and cranes. These decorative elements are not made separately and then attached after construction of the lid. Instead, the tabs and cranes are an integral part of the lid itself. Three of these boxes were made with Tomoko's Plain Square base, which requires 5 sheets of paper due to the use of an inner liner. The remaining two boxes feature other base designs which require only 4 sheets of paper. |
