| Comments: | Double-sided paper yields the best looking results when creating boxes of this style.
Two types of paper were used to make this set of boxes. Both types had a floral print on one side and a traditional geometric pattern on the reverse: either the kanoko pattern, which resembles dots within squares, or the stylized wave pattern called seigaiha.
The soft spring colors in these boxes would make them ideal for presenting candy or other gifts at Easter.
The folding and joining of units for octagonal boxes is complex. The octagon base is especially difficult. Of all the modular origami boxes featured on this site, the octagons are probably the most challenging to create. |
