| Comments: | The paper used for these boxes came in an 8 1/2 by 11 inch pad (21.6 x 27.9 cm). I trimmed those sheets down to the desired dimensions.
There are two very plain-looking boxes shown here, which required two sheets of 21 cm square paper -- one sheet for the lid and one for the base.
The other four boxes are more interesting in appearance. They all have the same style of base as the plain-looking boxes, but they have fancier lids. Each lid required two rectangular sheets of paper -- one sheet for the basic lid structure, and another for a decorative element inserted into the basic lid structure.
Since these lids are created by folding two pieces and assembling them into one lid, some folks might classify these boxes as modular. However, I have classified them as non-modular because the two separate lid pieces are not identical units as in most modular origami boxes.
Also, the basic lid structure can work all by itself without the decorative piece, especially if double-sided paper is used. |
