Comments:These self-closing boxes do not have a separate lid and base. The whole structure of each box -- both lid and base -- is formed from a single sheet of paper.

This type of box collapses closed with a slight twisting motion. Pushing down gently at the center of the lid then locks it closed tightly. To open such a box, grasp two of the lid flaps -- one flap on the opposite side of the box from the other -- and pull them outward.

Note that the various decorations on the lids are NOT made separately and then attached. Instead, they are integral to the design of the box.

The decorations look best when using double-sided paper, as shown here, where one side of the paper is blue and the reverse side is a buff yellow.

These boxes are my own variations on a design by Christiane Bettens (Mélisande). The original design features four leaves on the lid.

I wondered how many different-looking lids I could get by varying how I folded the leaf flaps -- and this set of boxes shows the results of my experimentation.
