Comments:These elegant boxes designed by Christiane Bettens (Mélisande), are self-closing. They do not have a separate lid and base. The whole structure of each box -- both lid and base -- is formed from a single sheet of paper.

This type of box collapses closed with a slight twisting motion. Pushing down gently at the center of the lid then locks it closed tightly. To open such a box, grasp two of the lid flaps -- one flap on the opposite side of the box from the other -- and pull them outward.

Note that the leaf decorations on the lids are NOT made separately and then attached. Instead, they are integral to the design of the box.

The leaves look best when using double-sided paper, as shown here.

These sweet little boxes are perfect for presenting a small gift of candy or jewelry to a special someone.
