Comments:I made these elegant squares with the year-end holidays in mind. They would be perfect for giving small jewelry gifts or for perching on the tree as candy-filled ornaments.

Some of these boxes use a type of paper which is new to me: handmade Nepalese Lokta. I have not worked much with lokta paper up until now, but I like it a lot and will be using it more in the future.

Nepalese lokta is an eco-friendly paper made by hand from the fibrous inner bark of the Daphne plant, which grows at high elevations in the Himalayas.

Lokta paper is prized for its durability and resistance to tearing, humidity, insects, and mildew. Although strong, it is also soft and flexible, with a feel more like cloth than paper, but it holds creases well for use in origami.
