| Comments: | The lids on these boxes are labeled 1-A in Tomoko Fuse's book, but I am calling this style of lid a "Blooming Pinwheel," since it incorporates both a pinwheel effect and the open petals of a flower blossom.
The double-sided paper used here proved to be ideal for this style of box. Although the paper was a little heavier/stiffer than most origami paper, it was still pliable enough to accept all the needed creases, and it formed a very sturdy gift box.
I borrowed the book which contained this model from the Lending Library of OrigamiUSA. The Library is a wonderful resource for members of that organization.
If you are searching online to purchase this book, be aware that its title is sometimes rendered as "Origami Shinsekai." |
