Comments: | All of these boxes were created by using Tomoko Fuse's designs for Japanese Lamp-Shaped Bowls. She provides instructions for a standard size bowl, along with 3 sizes wider/shallower than standard, and 2 sizes narrower/deeper than standard. Bowls are easily turned into lidded boxes by making two bowls which are close in size, then turning the wider one over and using it to cover the narrower one. Tomoko has also designed a lid with a knob, and two such are shown here, but I prefer the knobless version. All of the boxes in this set were made by creating standard-size bowls for the lids and bowls of one size narrower/deeper than standard for the bases. These boxes are rather fragile and not great for gift-giving. However, they do make wonderful holiday/party decorations -- just place small battery-operated tea lights inside. (Never use real candles due to fire hazard.) |
