Comments: | These tiny boxes are challenging to construct, but their size makes them perfect for presenting small jewelry gifts such as rings or earrings. The paper used here is sold in both the 15 cm (6 in) size and the 7.5 cm (3 in) size. I used 7.5 cm sheets for all the lids of the boxes shown here and also for most of the bases. Two of the boxes in this set are "hybrids" -- they have modular lids but with a non-modular base (a traditional masu). Each masu base was folded from a single 10.4 cm square sheet, which I obtained by trimming down a 15 cm square sheet. I haven't yet created a special category on this web site for hybrid boxes, so I am including them with the modular boxes for now. Note that the paper used here is a bit thicker/stiffer than most origami paper, so it was a little more difficult to fold. However, I just couldn't resist all the wonderful colors and patterns in this pack of paper. |
