Comments: | These simple but elegant rectangular boxes look like they would be easy to make but they are actually rather challenging. The units must be folded precisely and the assembly of the units is a bit tricky. Tomoko Fuse provides instructions for making an optional inner liner which can be inserted in the base to strengthen this type of box. All of the boxes shown here have an inner liner in both the lid and the base. It is possible to add the liners without the use of glue, but I have opted to glue them in place. This fastens them more securely and also greatly strengthen the box, which I felt was needed because of the soft, cloth-like quality of the washi paper used here. If this model were folded from stiffer paper, the extra strengthening obtained by gluing the liners would not be necessary. |
