Comments:Double-sided paper works best for this style of box. The paper used for this set of boxes has stylized waves (seigaiha) on one side and a variety of colorful prints on the reverse. The prints contain motifs such as plum blossoms, butterflies, and stylized plovers (chidori).

Because of the spring theme and soft colors shown here, these boxes would be good for gifting Easter candy to a child, grandchild, niece, or nephew -- or use them as favors at baby shower.

The folding and joining of units for octagon boxes is complex. The octagon base is especially difficult. Of all the modular origami boxes featured on this site, the octagons are probably the most challenging to create.
