Comments: | These star-shaped bowls are based on Chrissy Pushkin's flower bowl design, which she gives a difficulty rating of five stars -- the highest difficulty level in her book. These bowls are challenging to make because of all the precise pre-creasing required and because of a tricky sink fold which exposes the reverse side of the paper as a little star-shape sticking up inside the bowl at its center. You can fiddle around with this internal star-shape to make it wider/shorter or narrower/taller. If desired, you can flatten the star-shape completely to create a pentagon-shape. If you have already mastered Chrissy's flower bowl design, then her star bowl will be easy to make, since both designs start with the same sequence of steps. The differences between them involve only a few changes at the end of the folding process where the five "arms" of the model can either be shaped into flower petals or shaped into star points. |
