Comments: | The lids on these non-modular pentagonal boxes were very challenging to make. They require a great number of precise pre-creases. Tomoko Fuse suggests scoring the pre-creases, which I found very helpful, but not all types of paper can stand up to such treatment -- the washi used here could. It did not tear or crack at the intersection of multiple creases like some of the other papers I tried. I was also satisfied with the performance of the Heidi Swapp paper. It withstood heavy scoring and took creases neatly. The paper with a gold floral design on white was particularly well-suited to making fancy lids. Some of the lids on these boxes have been ornamented with faux gems or faux pearl beads. |
