Comments:The lids on these non-modular pentagonal boxes were very challenging to make. They require a great number of precise pre-creases.

Tomoko Fuse suggests scoring the pre-creases, which I found very helpful, but not all types of paper can stand up to such treatment -- this Kagayaki Yuzen paper could. It did not tear or crack at the intersection of multiple creases like some other papers I tried.

"Kagayaki" means "radiance" in Japanese. With its pastel colors against a metallic gold background, this paper certainly is radiant!

The apex of each lid has been ornamented with a small faux pearl. These three pearls are the heads of special straight pins which were used to hold the white ribbons wrapped around the bouquets carried by my daughter's bridesmaids at her wedding.
