Comments: | Non-modular octagonal boxes like these are very challenging to make because of the many precise pre-creases required and the use of a tricky "twist-down" technique. If you have already mastered Tomoko Fuse's non-modular hexagon boxes, then these octagons will be easier; many of the folds/steps are very similar. Scoring the pre-creases helps a lot, and the type of paper used here is strong enough to take scoring without tearing and to hold sharp creases without breakthrough at corners. Note that the paper used for the smallest box in this set has the same pattern as the paper used for the largest box, but with a different background color. The middle-sized box has a different pattern but features pink cherry blossoms like the paper used for the other two boxes. With so many cherry blossoms, this is definitely a spring-themed set! |
