Comments:Non-modular octagonal boxes like these are very challenging to make because of the many precise pre-creases required and the use of a tricky "twist-down" technique.

Scoring the pre-creases usually helps, but the wrapping paper used here did not stand up well to the scoring and twisting process. There was breakthrough along some of the crease lines and at some of the corners.

I bought this wrapping paper in a book of twelve sheets in the gift shop at the Asian Museum in San Francisco. Although the colors and patterns are beautiful, the quality of the paper is comparable to inexpensive scrapbook paper.

I won't use this paper again for complex shapes like octagons and hexagons. I may try it for simpler shapes like triangles and squares.
