Comments: | These non-modular hexagonal boxes are very challenging to make because of the many precise pre-creases required and the use of a tricky "twist-down" technique. Scoring the pre-creases helps a lot. If you have already mastered Tomoko Fuse's non-modular pentagon boxes, then the hexagons will be easier; many of the folds/steps for her hexagons are very similar to those for her pentagons. I love the colors, motifs, and glossy finish of the Urushi paper used here. The overall effect is to make these boxes look like traditional laquered Japanese boxes. Some of this special paper was a birthday gift from my friend Joyce. |
