Comments:These non-modular hexagonal boxes are very challenging to make because of the many precise pre-creases required and the use of a tricky "twist-down" technique. Scoring the pre-creases helps a lot, especially when using scrapbook paper, as here.

If you have already mastered Tomoko Fuse's non-modular pentagon boxes, then the hexagons will be easier; many of the folds/steps for her hexagons are very similar to those for her pentagons.

Some of the box lids shown here are my own variations on Tomoko's designs. It is often possible to alter the appearance of her lids significantly by making just a few simple changes in the final folds.

It is also possible to achieve variations in the height and width of boxes like these, as you can see from the side view image. The height and width differences were achieved by using rectangular sheets of varying sizes for the bases.

Although Tomoko Fuse's instructions usually specify dimensions for the rectangular sheet to be used, those numbers can often by adjusted with good results.

One disadvantage of using single-sided scrapbook paper for this style of box, as I have done here, is that the inside roof of the lid will be plain white. However, I have made some of these plain roofs more interesting by adding adhesive faux gems or stickers.
