Flower-Shaped Boxes Diagram

*Note that two numbers are given for the size of the box featured on this page. The diagram above illustrates what these size numbers mean for 3 different styles of flower boxes.

The larger size number provides a measurent for the outside of the flower (line A), while the smaller size number provides a measurement for the square shape in the center of the flower (line B).

Comments:I wasn't sure whether I should categorize these delightful little boxes as flower-shaped or square. The interior floor of the model is definitely square. However, I was enchanted by the lovely rose petals all around the side of the model, so I have put these boxes with the other non-modular flowers.

While folding this set of boxes, I noted their similarity to a more bowl-shaped model created by the same designer. Examples of Kakukuni Endo's "Flower Bowl" also appear on this web site.

These rose boxes are flatter than Endo's bowl but they are so pretty and, when made with 15.2 cm (6 in) paper, as here, they are just the right size to hold a fancy foil-wrapped chocolate square.

The designer has dubbed this model "Easy" but I think that most beginners would find it challenging. However, once you've mastered the folds, it is possible to produce a great many of these boxes in a very short time.

Double-sided paper is a must because the reverse side of the paper shows prominently on all sides of the finished model.
