Comments: | These cute little Valentine's Day boxes are Darren Scott's take on the traditional masu box. His lid design incorporates a color change which produces a nice heart shape. Obviously, double-sided paper is the best choice for making these lids, although single-sided paper will work fine for the bases of these boxes. Note that Scott's diagrams only show how to fold the heart lid up to a certain point and from there he instructs you to continue as for a traditional masu box -- so, if you have not already mastered the traditional masu, you will need to do that first, before attempting this Valentine's Day version. Scott's PDF does not include any diagrams or instructions for making a base to go with the heart lids. However, by experimenting a bit, I found that folding a traditional masu box from a 10.4 cm (4.1 in) square sheet of paper would produce a base to fit the lid . These little boxes are a big hit with small chilldren. I put some money and a hard candy in each box and gave them to my great-nieces and great-nephews for Valentine's Day 2022. What fun! |
