Comments: | These boxes are part of Tomoko Fuse's Fantaisie (or Fancy) series. The style called Fantaisie A is shown here. Others in the series all begin with the same basic folds as Fantaisie A but then incorporate modifications or additional folds to create the B, C, and D versions. The Fantaisie lids have an inner shell which helps to strengthen the structure and enhances the appearance of the interior. If using stiffer paper, the shell is not needed for structural reasons, but still looks nice. All of the boxes shown here have the inner shell. They also have a liner in the masu base which strengthens it and gives the interior a neat finish. For this particular set of boxes, I selected paper with prints which I thought would appeal to young kids: lucky cat, fish, bunnies, and an origami crane. These boxes would make nice favors for a child's birthday party. |
