Comments: | I made these non-modular square boxes as candy/gift containers for Easter. Tomoko Fuse specifies A4 size paper (297 mm x 210 mm) for making this type of box, but I had no trouble working with 12 inch (304 mm) square sheets, just trimming them down as needed. Tomoko's instructions allow for significant variation in box height and I have found that the height can be varied even more than what is shown in her book. Note the difference between the shortest and tallest boxes shown here. Using paper with a non-repeating motif along the bottom edge of the sheet presents a special challenge. For example, I had a sheet with a single white bunny rabbit in the bottom right corner. Following Tomoko's instructions, I could not highlight this bunny motif, no matter how I trimmed or oriented the paper. After many failed experiments with modifying Tomoko's design, I finally figured out how to make the bunny appear on the outside of the base. |
