Comments: | I made these non-modular square boxes for my husband to take into his office at Christmas time. Tomoko Fuse specifies A4 size paper (297 mm x 210 mm) for making this type of box, but I had no trouble working with the 12 inch (305 mm) square sheets in the DCWV Christmas pack, just trimming them down as needed. Tomoko's instructions allow for significant variation in box height and I have found from experimentation that the height can be varied even more than what is shown in her book. Note that the box in the upper left corner of this set is quite a bit taller than the others. Trimming my paper down to make some of the shorter boxes left me with narrow strips which were not big enough for making non-modular squares by following Tomoko's instructions, but I didn't want to simply discard these strips -- I hate to waste paper! I was able to use my scraps by modifying Tomoko's design. I created a lid and a base by omitting the flaps which usually lock down on the inner roof of the lid and the inner floor of the base. The smallest, plainest box in this set is the one made in this manner. |
