Comments:These adorable little dessert boxes were designed by Makoto Yamaguchi. The paper and instructions/diagrams to make them came in a kit.

Some of the paper was printed in an unusual manner to create special visual effects. Folding lines and reference marks were also printed on some sheets.

I enjoyed working with this kit, but some of the boxes were challenging, even with the folding lines to help. This is not a kit I would recommend to absolute beginners. The instructions/diagrams are not always as detailed as a beginner would need.

If you are an origami purist, you may not like this kit because cutting and pasting are required for some of the boxes.

Note: there is just enough of the heavier weight paper provided to make all of the boxes and no extras of those heavy sheets in case of mistakes -- so you might want to practice first with the lighter-weight single-sided sheets provided. Maybe they were included for that purpose?

To be certain of having enough of the heavier white paper to make both the Shortcake Box (white cake slice) and the Cream Puff (roundish box), make the Cream Puff first, then the Shortcake Box. (For a full explanation of why, click on the white cake slice in the top image at left.)
