Comments:This box earned a Blue Ribbon in the crafts competition at the 2019 Charlotte County Fair in Florida.

Non-modular hexagonal boxes like this one are very challenging to make because of the many precise pre-creases required and the use of a tricky "twist-down" technique.

Scoring the pre-creases helps a lot, but not all paper can withstand scoring. The types of paper used here performed very well, although the thickness and heavy texturing of the paper made in India required a little extra effort in scoring and folding.

In addition, the usual inner flaps in the base were omitted. The box is quite sturdy even without those flaps.

I really like the contrast in texture between the smooth yuzen paper used for the lid and the textured paper in the base.

The solid blue color of the base complements the blue bamboo shoots in the lid, and both types of paper have a festive sparkle -- perfect for the holidays or any happy

I sent this box to my friend Elaine as a thank you gift.
