Comments:This box was awarded a Blue Ribbon in the Papercrafting category at the 2017 Charlotte County Fair in Florida.

The lid of this non-modular box was very challenging to make. It requires a great number of precise pre-creases.

Tomoko Fuse recommends scoring the pre-creases. I found this very helpful, but not all types of paper can stand up to such treatment-- the washi used here could. It did not tear or crack at the intersection of multiple creases like many other types of paper I tried.

The washi was not too bulky where multiple layers overlapped but also not so flimsy that my box collapsed when I actually tried to use it.

In other words, this washi was ideal for this model -- plus I love the rich colors and traditional patterns of this paper

The photo here doesn't really do justice to this gorgeous paper. Please use the link below to see a better photo which includes the full set of boxes.

I have enhanced the lid of this box by inserting a straight pin with a metallic purple head into the apex of the spire, after first sliding a faux pearl onto the pin.
