This modular origami model was constructed entirely without the use of glue or any adhesive. The finished structure holds together securely because of how the units are interlocked by inserting a tab-like part of one unit into a slot or pocket of another.
This wreath/ring looks beautiful from both the front and the back, making it ideal for hanging in a window. Both sides look the same, so I have shown only the front here.
The locks between the units can loosen a bit over time, but it is very easy to tighten up the ring again if needed.
I used double-sided paper here, but you could also use two different types of single-sided paper.
My double-sided paper has a rich pattern of stylized chrysanthemums on the front and a solid color on the reverse.
I alternated units folded with the front side of the paper dominant and units folded with the reverse side of the paper dominant.
The finished model looks quite elegant -- and it earned a Blue Ribbon at the 2020 Charlotte County Fair.
