No Glue UsedThis modular origami model was constructed entirely without the use of glue or any adhesive. The finished structure holds together securely because of how the units are stacked or nested, with each unit fitting snugly into another.

This charming holiday tree is assembled from multiple units. Each unit is made from an octagonal sheet; each octagon is cut from a square. Guarnieri specifies 6 units, but you can use more or fewer. His instructions include paper sheet dimensions, but I wanted to make my tree bigger than his, so I scaled up his dimensions. Here are the sheet dimensions I used: - 16.5 cm x 16.5 cm (6.5 in x 6.5 in)
- 21.6 cm x 21.6 cm (8.5 in x 8.5 in)
- 26.7 cm x 26.7 cm (10.5 in x 10.5 in)
- 31.8 cm x 31.8 cm (12.5 in x 12.5 in)
- 36.8 cm x 36.8 cm (14.5 in x 14.5 in)
- 41.9 cm x 41.9 cm (16.5 in x 16.5 in)
By experimenting with different sheet dimensions, and by using more or fewer units, I have been able to make trees of many different sizes. To see them, use the link at the bottom of these comments. The units for this delightful tree are not difficult to make and the the final assembly is very easy-- just stack one unit upon another, from largest up to smallest. The designer shows two different styles of stacking: either align all the units in the exact same way, or rotate each unit slightly in relation to the one below it. I prefer the latter approach, shown here. This tree was awarded a Blue Ribbon in the Arts & Crafts exhibition/judging at the 2023 Charlotte County Fair in Florida.
